O personagem jovem no cinema dos anos 2000 : a propósito de permanências, novas visibilidades e interseções socioantropológicas

Abstract

This thesis aims to analyze the young character in Brazilian cinematographic productions launched between the years 2000 and 2009 through approximations of the fields of Communication, in particular Cinema, and Anthropology. In this sense, the bibliographic review carried out was concerned with establishing affinities between these fields, emphasizing the existing links. The method undertaken in the investigation took the fiction film as a cultural document, considering the precursor studies of the Culture and Personality School, especially through Wolfenstein (1953) and Weakland (1953 and 1995), as well as the approaches proposed by Lima (1996), Pereira (2003) and Hikiji (2012). Based on these premises, a set of films starring young people in the previously defined period was viewed and classified into six semantic units, which cover the recurring themes identified in these productions. After this previous survey, four films were selected for analysis, they are: Nina (Heitor Dhália, 2004), Última parada - 174 (Bruno Barreto, 2008), Linha de passe (Walter Salles and Daniela Thomas, 2008) and Falsa loura (Carlos Reichenbach, 2008). In conducting the analysis process, the cinematographic assumptions regarding the character provided by Field (1995), Chion (1989) and Howard and Mabley (1996) were also observed. It was found that the narrative situations bring youthful experiences marked by an unequal and sometimes hostile reality. It was also found that poverty, understood here as a multidimensional phenomenon, is a marked characteristic, to a greater or lesser degree, for all the characters analyzed.
