Electronic Publishing System of Theses and Dissertations (TEDE), developed and maintained by The Brazilian Institute of Information for Science and Technology (IBCIT), aims to provide the deployment of digital libraries of theses and dissertations in educational and research institutions, and thus, their integration to the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD). After ten years developed, TEDE has been fully updated. The new version of the system, called here TEDE2, is based on the free software DSpace (Digital SPace), the same platform used for creating Open Access Digital Repositories. TEDE2 is already configured according to the Metadata Standard of New BDTD being fully interoperable with other systems. Further more, it allows institutions to make customizations to the interface and workflow definitions within the system itself. Institutions using the old TEDE can directly migrate their theses and dissertations for TEDE2. For this, the IBICT developed a tool that enables the migration of information (metadata + document files) without loss and without duplicating work. Please contact the BDTD team and get more information about this process.

TEDE2 Project is based on DSpace Software, with JSPUI interface, and has specific customizations (settings, layout changes and development items) to allow it to adapt to the characteristics of theses and dissertations. Many of these customizations have to be useful not only for this restricted document type, but for the general user community of DSpace. Therefore, it was decided that new features would be organized in groups, which might originate plugins of original DSpace project.
