Abstract

The research aims to explore queer theology, questioning if queer people can be considered a "theological locus," that is, a legitimate space for theological reflection and practice. By challenging traditional, hegemonic, and heteronormative theology, the study seeks to build a more inclusive and contextual theology that integrates the experiences and lives of LGBTQIAPN+ individuals. Authors such as Marcella Althaus-Reid and André Musskopf are central to this approach, advocating for an "indecent theology" that confronts patriarchal and heteronormative norms, paving the way for theological reflection that values diversity and dissent. Additionally, the research engages with Liberation Theology, acknowledging its contribution to including the poor and oppressed as theological subjects, while pointing out its limitations in neglecting issues of gender and sexuality. The study proposes a more inclusive biblical reinterpretation, deconstructing discriminatory interpretations that have historically marginalized queer people, and suggests pathways for a hermeneutic that promotes justice and inclusion. Finally, the research highlights the significance of Catholic LGBTQIAPN+ groups, such as the National Network of Catholic LGBT+, which provide safe and welcoming spaces for those marginalized by the Church. These groups not only strengthen the faith and spirituality of their members but also challenge the institution to rethink its practices and discourses, promoting a more inclusive Church committed to human diversity.
