Filosofia política : histórias em quadrinhos e macartismo

Abstract

The present work addresses the forms of narratives from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century, involving the political and artistic dimension of comic books in the West. The bibliographical investigation takes place specifically in the culture of the United States of America, a fertile place for political discussions influenced by radio, cartoons, comics and cinema. Initially, an epistemological retreat is carried out, tabulating the different forms of narratives: Radionovela, Pulp Magazine, Comicbook, Pocketbook and Television. The speeches of influential politicians of the time emerge in the research as a way of locating the spirit of the time, adding to the covers of story magazines and the semiotic system of comics. The core of the discussion is the assimilation of pop culture generated by epic characters from the cultural industry, taking into account the historical periods of McCarthyism. As a by-product of the research, the aesthetic and poetic influence of how the structure of the narrative and the symbolic mental architecture of each character is formed, involving the character armor as a rigid symptom and three political systems: monarchy, aristocracy and democracy. As a major purpose, the objective of the dissertation is to reflect on the importance of comics culture in dialogue with historical events in the philosophical-political and psychological-social dimensions
