O boato na era das redes sociais digitais : uma análise do caso Guarujá

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of social media in the spread of rumors, by means of a research about de Guaruja case. Our goal is to understand how the information about a supposed kidnapper, who would kidnap children in order to practice black magic, published in the Internet, had a tragic outcome with the lynching of the housewife Fabiane Maria de Jesus, who died because of the injuries, though no child has disappeared. As a consequence of the wide range of technologies, social media has become an important tool in the formation os postmodern imaginery, wich is no different in the case of unproven disclosure. Through comprehensive sociology, using the focus group interview and documentary research, we sought to identify how social media influenced só that the rumor turned into a real collective warning situation and led a group of residents to take the law into their own hands, against an innocent person.
