Natureza humana : entre Thomas Hobbes e Sigmund Freud

Abstract

This research seeks, through bibliographical review and critical analysis, to explore the conceptions of human nature proposed by Thomas Hobbes and Sigmund Freud, with the aim of comparing their models for understanding the internal conflicts of human beings and their social implications. Despite the differences in time and theoretical approach, both share a central concern: the misalignment between the individual and society. The research is structured in three main parts: first, Hobbes' theory is examined; next, Freud's theory is analyzed; and finally, a comparative analysis of both is presented. The study reveals that, despite their contrasting approaches, both thinkers recognize the intrinsic conflict in human nature and the need for regulatory mechanisms to ensure social coexistence. The analysis offers a profound reflection on the origins of conflict and order in human societies, emphasizing the crucial role of passions and reason in shaping both the individual and society
