Feminismo e prostituição : a perspectiva das “prostitutas de luxo” de Porto Alegre

Abstract

The following study addresses the perspective of Porto Alegre's luxury prostitutes on feminism. We started the work by discussing the main feminist theories and their ideological aspects, from the suffragette movement to the second wave of feminism. In the next chapter, we contextualize prostitution in Brazil, both from a historical and institutional / legal point of view. It is evident that, despite important achievements of the prostitutes movement - such as the inclusion of the category in the Brazilian Code of Occupations - the Brazilian State has not yet managed to overcome its hygienist bias, by reducing public policies to this social class to disease prevention programs sexually transmitted. Next, we present what feminists think about prostitution and what prostitutes view of themselves. The research started from structured and semi-structured interviews, as it understands that it allows giving a voice to excluded and marginalized groups in society. In order to arrive at the survey, we selected three night clubs in Porto Alegre, considered to be of a high standard. Finally, it is concluded that, although it is diverse in terms of theoretical perspectives, there are currents of feminism that do not welcome these women. It is suggested that the regulation of the profession, which guarantees these people their basic rights, as well as a safe working environment, and not involved in the environment of crime, would be the assertive way to promote the reduction of the existing stigma surrounding prostitutes.
