A crise atual da democracia liberal : uma análise marxista

Abstract

The present work aims to understand the process that gives rise to the current crisis of liberal democracy. For this purpose, we focus the investigation on identifying the role of liberal democracy in a broader context of the social metabolism of capital, relating democracy as a political regime of the capitalist state. The research is carried out with a theoretical support developed by the Marxist tradition and supported by the Marxian dialetical materialism method. Especial emphasis is placed on the theoretical arsenal produced by the hungarian philosopher István Mészáros. The Marxist author elaborates a thesis of the social metabolism of capital as an organic process, consisting of multiple determinations and imperatives of the system. Thus, we investigate the author's elaborations such as the structural crisis, relative limits and absolute limits, in addition to the corrective actions of the capitalist State. In summary we aim to locate liberal democracy within the social metabolism of capital, understanding its current crisis as a manifestation of the crisis of the capital system itself.
