The genus contains Chiasmocleis, Syncope, and Relictocleis as subgenera. Syncope currently has ten species, some of which are widely distributed, and others known from only a few localities. Likewise, an expressive genetic diversity has been detected that does not correspond to the currently nominated taxa. In this work we analyze, mostly, specimens from Peruvian localities to complement the knowledge of this group. We generate genetic, morphological, acoustic, and osteological data to update our understanding of this clade. With our data, we describe a species that has an uncertain position with respect to its congeners; we describe the advertisement call of Chiasmocleis carvalhoi; we explore the taxonomic validity of C. tridactyla; and we update the delimitation of C. bassleri and C. supercilalba. Although our results improve the knowledge of Chiasmocleis, we suggest that more data (i.e., more genetic markers and phenotypic data) are needed for the delimitation and study of the genus", publisher = {Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul}, scholl = {Programa de Pós Graduação em Ecologia e Evolução da Biodiversidade}, note = {Escola de Ciências Saúde e da Vida} }
